In Portugal over ten years ago a
book circulated: The Secret that Moves the Pope. The secret was his
great devotion to the message of Fatima. The late Fr. Joachim Maria
Alonso, internationally recognized theologian and official historian of
Fatima, told me, "The Holy Spirit is working in the Church today
through Fatima." One can understand then how John Paul II and Sr. Lucia
became close spiritual friends through the spirit of Fatima. With thi  s short explanation, hopefully readers
will recognize why I felt the need, soon after the deaths of Sr. Lucia
and Pope John Paul II, to write yet another book on Fatima. What name
could I give the book but FATIMA IS FOREVER,
words spoken at the funeral of Sr. Lucia.From 1974 until 2003 I spent considerable time on pilgrimages to Fatima. Most summers I spent six weeks in Fatima conducting two different youth pilgrimages. I often offered Mass at the very site of the apparitions, but twice each summer at Sr. Lucia's Carmel in Coimbra. During my Mass, October 1998 I saw Sr. Lucia standing beside the statue of Our Lady of Fatima which I was to take to Russia for Russia's Fatima Shrine which the Fatima Family Apostolate had built. Pope John Paul II sent to Catholics of Russia a message the day of dedication and mentioned the Fatima Family Apostolate.
