Heart Messenger Magazine The "TWO Friends": Pope John Paul II & Sr. Lucia "Never since the miracles of biblical days has there been a major miracle publicly witnessed comparable to what happened at Fatima October 13, 1917. The Miracle of the Sun, "so that all may believe" was witnessed by tens of thousands and for 32 miles around. People thought the end of the world had come. It has never happened before in the 2000
years of Christianity that apparitions were approved and then the
person who had the apparitions lived upon earth for close to nine more
decades to carry out the mission given from heaven. Already at the age
of ten, Sr. Lucia was set on a course that would involve world changes
and gain the attention of pope after pope.We know that the 27-year reign of Pope John Paul II was one of the longest papal reigns in the 2000-year history of the Catholic Church. Even secular historians admit his influence changed the course of world history. Atheistic Communism was aiming to conquer the world. The influence of Pope John Paul II changed all that. These two persons. Pope John Paul II and Sr. Lucia became close spiritual friends. Both died the past year within about seven weeks of each other. Both of them had a deep effect on the spirituality of the Church. Both had roles which changed world history. Both were involved in divine mysteries. One of them received revelations which every Pope since 1930 has called in some way "a reaffirmation of the Gospel." Both realized their health and years were taking their toll. Both knew that they were about to make the Passover from this world into eternity. Pope John Paul II wrote a letter to Sr. Lucia, sending it through her bishop. Sr. Lucia read the Pope's letter shortly before she died. What special intercessory powers these two saintly souls must now have in heaven. Lucia was told by the Mother of God in 1917 that she would go to heaven. The cause for the beatification and canonization of John Paul II opened almost immediately after his death. At his funeral John Paul II was described as being in heaven by Cardinal Ratzinger. As Pope Benedict XVI he said the same. Millions came to the Pope's funeral. During ihe burial rites millions chanted "Santo Subito" (Sainthood at Once). Are these two now intercessors for the Church and the world? Excerpts from Fr. Robert J.
