MOTHER ANGELICA—"NUN OF THE MEDIA" Professional artist, Mark Sanislo, painted
the portrait "The Nun of the Media"
which you see on the cover of
this issue of the Immaculate Heart Messenger. He had the permission of
Mother Angelica's Poor Clare Nuns
to paint their founder of Our Lady of Angeles Monastery
and Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, near Hanceville, AlabamaMark is the head of Fiat Studios and has felt called to respond to the challenge of Pope John Paul II encouraging artists to use their talents to promote the beauty and traditions of Catholicism. Fiat Studios is not part of the Fatima Family Apostolate but Fr. Fox agreed to serve as its spiritual director to help this noble Fiat Art Apostolate inspired by His Holiness. This portrait would be excellent for our Catholic homes encouraging a sound Catholic culture and support to good wholesome media. It will be an occasion of conversation for family members and guests. It shows Mother's world renowned Temple honoring the Child Jesus and serving as a Shrine to this Most Blessed Sacrament. The portrait also manifests the power of prayer which comes from the Poor
Clare Nuns of Perpetual
Adoration who have backed up Mother's global media work. Mother herself
is seen at the switchboard of Eternal Word Television Network [EWTN]
with her Rosary in hand.In a time of confusion, Mark is promoting the work, devotion and loyalty of good Priests and Religious through his sacred art. He says: "It seems to me at this most difficult time in our Church's history, as experienced in past centuries of turmoil, there are now also the making of great Saints and Heroes to defend and spread the fullness of the Gospel, Christ's true faith. I want to be positive in telling their story through art." Article by Fr. Robert J. Fox - April-June 2003 Immaculate Heart Messenger Magazine |
