As the second millennium gives way to the third, Pope John Paul II has decided to publish the text of the third part of the “secret of Fatima”.

The twentieth century was one of the most crucial in human history, with its tragic and cruel events culminating in the assassination attempt on the “sweet Christ on earth”. Now a veil is drawn back on a series of events which make history and interpret it in depth, in a spiritual perspective alien to present-day attitudes, often tainted with rationalism.

Throughout history there have been supernatural apparitions and signs which go to the heart of human events and which, to the surprise of believers and non-believers alike, play their part in the unfolding of history. These manifestations can never contradict the content of faith, and must therefore have their focus in the core of Christ's proclamation: the Father's love which leads men and women to conversion and bestows the grace required to abandon oneself to him with filial devotion. This too is the message of Fatima which, with its urgent call to conversion and penance, draws us to the heart of the Gospel.

Fatima is undoubtedly the most prophetic of modern apparitions. The first and second parts of the “secret”—which are here published in sequence so as to complete the documentation—refer especially to the frightening vision of hell, devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Second World War, and finally the prediction of the immense damage that Russia would do to humanity by abandoning the Christian faith and embracing Communist totalitarianism.

In 1917 no one could have imagined all this: the three pastorinhos of Fatima see, listen and remember, and Lucia, the surviving witness, commits it all to paper when ordered to do so by the Bishop of Leiria and with Our Lady's permission.   -- MORE --

The Fourth Luminous Mystery

The Transfiguration of Our Lord
by Fr. Robert J. Fox  ( taken from  Fatima Family Apostolate  Marian Manual)

Lord Jesus, as the time drew near for you to die on the cross for us, you took Peter, John and James, high up onto Mount Tabor. This unusual mountain suddenly rises high amidst the plains in the Holy Land. There you were transformed in appearance before them. Some of your divine glory shone through your human body. As you appeared in glory to Peter, John and James, your face changed in appearance, shining like the sun. Your fallen snow glistening under the sun.

The Evangelist (Luke 9:28-36) tells us about this your mystery of light par excellence: “Suddenly two men were talking with him-Moses and Elijah. They appeared in glory and spoke of his passage, which he was about to fulfill in Jerusalem. Peter and those with him had fallen into a deep sleep; but awakening, they saw his glory and likewise saw the two men who were talking with him.”

Jesus, in the Transfiguration, you wanted these special apostles to be prepared to experience the agony of the Passion, so as to come with you to the joy of the I Resurrection and a life transfigured by the Holy Spirit. You permitted them to witness all this so they could
witness to us and to people of every age.

Lord Jesus, when you will come to die in crucifixion, John will remain with your Mother Mary beneath the  Cross. The grace of the Transfiguration will sustain him in faith. John will be rewarded to have Mary live in his home thereafter and represent us all in being given Mary
as our spiritual mother.

If I am faithful to you, Jesus, believing that you are my Lord, God and Savior, and that you now live in the glory of heaven, one day I too will share your glory as Moses and Elijah who appeared in glory with you at your Transfiguration.

In this luminous mystery with my inner heart, I can see by image formed in my mind’s eye something of the glory of the Godhead as it shines forth from the face of , Jesus Christ. I can hear in my heart the Father command the astonished apostles, and all of us yet today: “Listen
to him” (Luke 9:35).

“Peter said to Jesus, ‘Master, how good it is for us to be here. Let us set up three booths, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ He did not really know what he was saying. While he was speaking, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and the disciples grew fearful as the others entered it. Then from the cloud came a voice which said, ‘This is my Son, my Chosen one. Listen to him.’ When the voice fell silent, Jesus was there alone”
(Luke 9:32-36).

Lord Jesus, there are times when I catch glimpses of your divine reality in human form. I then experience your presence. May I sense something of your real glorified presence in the Holy Eucharist when I come before the Tabernacle of my parish church.

Prayer at end of decade: Lord Jesus, may I so live as to one day share in your glory in heaven, prefigured at your Transfiguration. I offer this Rosary for all families to come to living faith on earth so as one day to live in your glory in heaven.
